Learning English In The Capital

Learning English can sometimes be boring, which is why at Interactive Travel we try to fill our student’s time with interesting and memorable activities that will take the focus off learning to speak English, but these activities are carefully chosen in order to continue with that learning while they are having fun.

No trip to England can really be complete without a visit to the capital city, London. Here we allow our students the freedom to go sight-seeing in small groups, but they are required to indulge in certain activities that keep them busy as well as allowing us to make sure that they are making the most of their visit.

The way that we do this is to encourage them to take part in a photography competition, which not only ensures that they get to see all of the landmarks on their itinerary, but it also provides a competitive element and of course, some permanent celluloid reminders of their good times in the city.

Due to Interactive Travel being a charitable organisation, our language courses are often compared by parents, students and others with the many commercial companies that offer similar services. Unfortunately, these companies are often under pressure to make profits and therefore the students’ experience is sometimes compromised for this reason. We pride ourselves in the differences between the experience that we offer, and that of our competitors.  On our language course excursions, the leaders accompany the students on our coaches on the way to London (and back to Torquay afterwards) and for much of the time that they are in the city, unless we specifically instruct them to go on sight-seeing missions in their individual groups.

We like to provide our students with activities that develop their teamwork skills and independence, but we also find that with bilingual leaders around, continually encouraging the students to speak in English, this enhances their ability and enjoyment of learning to speak English.

The T-shirt sellers in London seem to do quite well out of us, and many of our students can be seen proudly wearing their ‘I love London’ T-shirts upon their return! We believe that these kind of  enjoyable excursions are essential to the learning process, and beyond that – they simply provide the students with fond memories of their time in England.
